When you are wondering what is the best vacuum cleaner for you, it’s critical you get the top quality information you need to make your best choice.

Do you need it for a large or small space? Will you be traveling with it? Is power your priority or lightweight? Do you need if for more than just vacuuming the floor? Have you got allergies? Do you want a stick or canister style?

The sky is the limit when it comes to types of vacuum cleaners and performance is priority one. The vacuum cleaner you need must have the suck power required to get the job done; so you don’t have to re-vacuum to pick up those pesky crumbs or deeply buried pet hair. That just wastes your valuable time!

By choosing your perfect dust, dirt, and pet hair picker-upper the first time; the best value for your money, you know the vacuuming is going to get done right EVERY time.

Dust just isn’t good for anyone to breathe; it can trigger adult-onset allergies later in life.

So it’s ultra-important you know what is the best vacuum for you and your family or business.

It’s Shocking How Much Dirt Some Vacuums Miss

Perhaps this has happened to you: You’ve lived with carpeting, then for one reason or another you live with hardwood or some other type of hard surface flooring that shows up every little bit of dust and dirt. You can’t believe it! You can sweep or vacuum one day and by the next morning, the dust and dirt have returned.
Of course we think that some new dirt- and dust-producing thing has mysteriously descended on our living space, but the truth is it’s the same dust and dirt that has always been present only now we can see it.
I cannot tell you how shocked I was to see what accumulated in such a short time on my wood floors. In my mind I multiplied by 7, 14 and even 21 days. Imagining what had accumulated in the carpeting almost made me wretch. Seriously.
Another surprise is how much dirt vacuums miss, especially when we use them on carpet. Because we cannot see the dirt, we assume a single pass will do it. The problem is that once dirt goes deep into the carpet (closer to the bottom than it is to the top of the pile), it doesn’t easily come out. It takes agitation and suction to coax it out of there.

1. Keep it clean- The best defense is a good offense. That means you need to do all you can to keep the dirt from getting to the carpet in the first place. A shoes-off rule is ideal, but not always practical. Place sturdy doormats at all entrances. Vacuuming carpet frequently is the only way to keep dirt and grit from embedding into the weave of the carpet backing. It is critical to use a vacuum that is lightweight and easy to maneuver. It should glide effortlessly.

2. Know your passes- As you plan your vacuuming route, spend the most time on the areas where dirt collects. Memorize this routine and count as you work: 12 passes of the vacuum within 4 feet of outside doors; 8 passes in high-traffic areas; 4 passes elsewhere. In the areas where carpet has not been regularly and thoroughly cleaned in the last year, double the passes given above for three months. It will take that kind of effort to get all of the dirt, grit, dust and grime out of the pile and into the vacuum.

3. Best vacuum- You can vacuum with your Dyson or Miele, Electrolux or Hoover. When you’re done, I’ll vacuum the same area with one of our Riccars, or The Patriot-Hybrid. Prepare to be amazed (if not a little embarrassed) by what our vacuums will find that the others left behind

Window leaks can happen for a number of reasons. Typically, window leaks are due to poorly installed windows or windows that have worn parts—causing a breakdown of sealing components. If your windows are leaking, you have a significant problem. Window leakage is more than just annoying—it can cause damage to your home, including mold and mildew growth, wood rot, or even foundation problems!
Never ignore leaky windows. If you notice water around your windows after it rains, you should consider having your windows repaired or replaced. Come down to H&M Industries today. They will help you determine whether or not they need to be replaced. Free estimates everyday on our Vinyl Siding, Vinyl Windows, and Metal Roofing, plus lots more!!
-Window Leaks When it is not Raining – many people notice water on their windows even when it is not raining and assume there is a leak somewhere. Chances are it is simply window condensation.
-Bad Glass Seal – if you are seeing water inside your window between the panes of glass, you have a bad glass seal. This does not always mean that water is leaking into your home, but it does mean that your windows have lost their insulating gas—making them significantly less energy-efficient than they were when they were new.
-Bad Window Sealant – If the window sealant—or caulk—around your window has cracks or gaps, re-caulk around the window and monitor what happens following the next rain storm.
-Wall Leaks – it is possible that your window leaks are not window leaks at all. If you notice stains on the top part of the window frame, chances are the leak is due to a leak in your walls. Inspect your walls for sealing gaps or cracks and re-seal them to fix this problem.
If you would like to have your leaky windows evaluated or replaced, call H&M today! 704-434-9900

Anatomy of a window

1. Frame provides structure.

2. Cladding protects the exterior of a wood or composite window and is made of vinyl, aluminum, or fiberglass, eliminating painting.

3. Sash is the moving part of the window; it can be tilted in for easy cleaning.

4. Insulated glass Double-glazed windows have a sealed space between two panes of glass filled with air or another gas that insulates better than air. Argon gas is standard on many windows, but the energy savings won’t justify paying extra for it.

5. Low-E coating is transparent and improves the efficiency of the glass by reflecting heat yet letting light in. The coating is applied to the outside of glass in warmer climates to reflect the sun’s heat out; in colder areas, it’s applied to the inside glass to keep heat in.

6. Grilles are decorative and are available in different patterns to match architectural styles.

The Best Vacuum Cleaner for Your Home

Staying ahead of the grit, dust, and lint in your home can (literally) suck. So it's important to choose a handy vacuum that works for you and your space.

If you have mostly bare floors:
A house full of hardwoods and tile still needs a vacuum, and a versatile canister vac might be your best bet. With its many attachments (it usually comes with a bare-floor brush), you can get into corners and other tight spaces more easily. If you prefer an upright, choose one that allows you to turn the brush roll off; it tends to scatter debris on a bare floor and could even scratch some surfaces.

If you have a lot of wall-to-wall carpeting:
A canister with a motorized power head attachment is great for carpet, but if you have a lot of space to cover, you'll probably prefer the ease of an upright. Look for an adjustable-height brush roll to improve cleaning and pushing across various carpet-pile heights. Some models even have dirt sensors, good for making sure you've gotten the last of the grime without lots of extra back-and-forth.

If you have stairs:
A canister with a long hose and attachments for getting in and around railings is a smart pick. However, if you only want one vacuum for the entire house, a cumbersome canister that you'll need to drag between floors may not be your cup of tea. Opt for a lightweight upright as your solo machine, or buy a second, less expensive model for upstairs cleaning.

If you want to vacuum more than the floors:
A vacuum is a super versatile cleaning tool, so make sure you consider the attachments. In addition to the standard crevice tool, dusting brush, and upholstery brush, many models have specially designed extras for cleaning mattresses, removing pet hair, and even dusting ceiling fans and the tops of bookcases.
Variable suction is also helpful for cleaning delicate items like drapery sheers and small area rugs without damaging them. Look for models with extra long cords (up to 35 feet) to extend your reach even more.

If you're weighing bagged vs. bagless:
There's no difference in cleaning ability, so it comes down to preference. Bags less messy, but you need to have replacements on hand. Bagless vacs are more convenient, but can be irritating if you have allergies.
